Matrix Marble & Stone is one of 3 stone companies the Zanatta family began in 1972, which started first, with Cowichan Terrazzo and Ceramic Tile.
In 1980, Matrix Marble & Stone was established, making it the first Natural Stone Company on Vancouver Island. Shortly after, the Zanatta's built the factory and began acquiring modern stone machine technology.

In 1980, Matrix began importing exotic stones and installed the first bridge saw, later adding the gang saw and polishing lines.
With a passion for natural stones, the ambition and desire to source high-quality local stones was a natural inclination. We personally select our stones from Italy and our trusted international suppliers. Our collection of exotic Marble, Limestone, Travertine, Quartzite, and Granite reflect current fashion, design, and architectural trends.
Quarriers of Vancouver Island Natural Marbles
In 1990, the Zanatta's opened Vancouver Island Marble Quarries and began quarrying beautiful, high-quality white, grey, and black Marbles unique to Vancouver Island.
In 1990, Matrix installed their first of 2 Marble Gang Saws and is proud to be the only company quarrying and processing Marble blocks into slabs in Western Canada. Since the first Zambon bridge saw, we have been continually acquiring new stone technology to meet our client’s demand.
